Introduction
This article concerns problems you may be experiencing with your Office Tools Pro program that are related to the installation of Microsoft Office Service Pack 3 on your computer. If you have recently installed Office 2003 Service Pack 3, your Office Tools Pro program may not start properly, or you may be getting the error message, "The Runtime has requested that this application be terminated in an unusual way," particularly in the Billing Tab. Office Tools Pro exits when this error occurs.
Background
Office Tools Pro uses Microsoft Access, a component of the Microsoft Office suite of programs, as its technological base. From time to time, Microsoft will release updates to Microsoft Office, which can affect the Microsoft Access runtime that Office Tools Pro uses. Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3 contains some changes which have negatively affected Office Tools Pro. Complete information about Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3 can be found on the Microsoft web site at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923618
Who is affected
Anyone who has Office Tools Pro installed on their computer, and has received Office 2003 Service Pack 3, either by downloading and installing it, or through automatic Windows Updates or Office Updates, can be affected by this problem.
How to correct the
problem
There are two methods to correct this problem, described below. You should only need to perform one of the two methods to correct the problem.
Method 1
This method involves removing Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3 from your computer. This method does not always work. If it doesn't work, use Method 2 (below) to fix the problem.
Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3 cannot be uninstalled. To remove Office 2003 Service Pack 3 you must uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office 2003 on the affected computer. You must also prevent Service Pack 3 from being installed again by turning off Automatic Updates in Control Panel.
If you do not have Office 2003 installed on the affected computer, you can uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Access 2003 Runtime provided with Office Tools Pro. The easiest way to do this is to uninstall the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Runtime using Control Panel, and then reinstall the runtime from your Office Tools Pro installation CD.
To reinstall the Microsoft Access 2003 Runtime, locate the AccessRT folder on your installation CD, open it, and double-click the ACCESSRT.MSI file located there. If you no longer have your installation CD, you can download and run the Microsoft Access 2003 Runtime installation by clicking the following link:

Method 2
This method involves switching Office Tools Pro from Microsoft Access 2003 to Microsoft Access XP.
First, you will need to download and run the latest Office Tools Pro update, which is always available on our Downloads, Updates and Utilities page at:
http://officetoolspro.com/pages/downloads/updates_utilities.htm
Next, download and run the following file. This file will add a registry entry to your computer that will tell Office Tools Pro to use Microsoft Access XP (2002):

After performing this step, try running Office Tools Pro again. If the problems persist, it will be necessary to install a Microsoft Access 2002 Runtime on your computer. To do this, download and run the following file:
http://www.officetoolspro.com/downloads/access2002rt.exe
If you installed the Microsoft Access 2002 Runtime, you will also need to install the Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Access 2002 Runtime. Instructions for downloading and installing this update are located on the Microsoft web
